ABOUT THIS SCHOOL'S COURSES

We are an advanced post-graduate, School for Natural Medicine. Our online programs are designed for self-motivated adults desiring to learn the real medicine based on the accumulated knowledge of the masters of the field since the times of Hippocrates. We are a school of medicine teaching down to earth methods of diagnosis and treatment. We emphasize the 'old school' methods of learning, tutoring and mentoring. The PanAm School is also for those who wish to upgrade their knowledge in the health care fields. Self-study is for those unique individuals that do not require constant classroom contact. Self-study is for the adept individuals who do not have the time to sit through 4 four years of classroom chalk and talk.

COURSES FOR 2012/2013

Our self-study programs are provided on the famous moodle platform, designed for student ease of training. Our school is open 24 hours a day in over fifty languages around the world. The material is presented solely for clinical relevance and occupational needs. Few outside textbooks are required as the programs were developed in-house over the course of twenty years. Textbooks are provided as Lessons or can be downloaded as part of the course(s).

Our campus programs are provided as follows:

1. Regularly scheduled seminaries on Nevis Island;

2. Regularly scheduled seminaries in Loma Linda Ecuador; and

3. Seminaries scheduled in other countries (USA, Taiwan).

We subscribe to the time tested methods of our great forefathers in Natural Medicine. Our clinical specialties and training programs emphasize natural medicine with reliance on physical diagnosis, clinical medicine, nutrition, herbal medicine, and physiotherapies. We also include bioenergetic modalities - electroacupuncture according to Voll, high frequency physiotherapy, electrotherapy, infrared therapy, and other non-invasive methods. We also incorporate modern, state-of-the-art, technologies such as thermography, vascular ultrasound evaluation, EKG, EEG, etc., as a comprehensive means to evaluate and arrive at a proper diagnosis and course of treatment. Diagnostic emphasis is based on the available tools in the rural setting.

The heritage of Natural medicine modalities combined with modern technology and medical education makes the primary care physician a superb doctor.

We have been conducting seminars, courses, and workshops all over the world for more than twenty-five years. We are in definite touch to the needs of practitioners and therapeutic methods. The broad category of "therapists," including acupuncturists, massotherapists, nutritional counselors, psychotherapists, nurses, physiotherapists, etc. generally lack good medical education in diagnostics, therapeutics, and out-patient disorder management.

With the launching of our online base of courses as early as 2000, it allowed a broader range of self-motivated individuals to obtain that education, saving time and expenses.

Our Doctor of Natural Medicine (DNM) Program provides the best of two worlds:

  • Emphasis on clinical contact. One of the great problems in medical education is the exclusive emphasis on 2 years of science courses with little to no contact with patients and clinics. Students today are subjected to rout memorization with little clinical relevance.
  • Online courses of study equivalent to a four year classroom program in Naturopathy
  • Solid training in basic medical sciences applied in clinical settings
  • Residency/internship in a full spectrum, naturopathic/integrated medical facilities.

The focus of the natural medicine courses are practical. The focus of residency is practical applications. The focus of earning a doctorate in natural medicine is to learn to be a good primary care physician.

The late Sir Robert Hutchison, warned students against "Too much zeal for the new and contempt for what is old; for putting knowledge before wisdom; science before art; and cleverness before common sense."

The late Sir William Osler stated "Medicine is to be learned by experience and is not an inheritance, it cannot be revealed. Learn to see, learn to hear, learn to feel, learn to smell, and to know that by practice alone you can become expert. Medicine is learned by the bedside and not in the classroom."

TESTIMONIALS FROM GRADUATES

The Panamerican Institute offers the best medical education a student can get. I am a graduate working in Ecuador, my experience has been valuable, helping more people each week (increasing my patients). You have to make your own experience so give it a try. The exams are challenging so you will have to do a lot of research, meaning that in some lesson you have medical questions that are not in the text (that is a part of learning). Antonio H. I am a recent graduate of the Pan Am School of Natural Medicine. I would strongly recommend this school if and only if you are committed to the challenge of becoming the one of the best clinically trained ND there is out ther. Dr. Mc Williams is a tough mentor because he expects and demands only the best performance from his trainees. He trains his dr.\'s to use the electronically equipment to assist them in their clinic. You are not forced to purchase anything that you do not want to. The equipment that one uses is really up the the Dr.. Your choices are up to the you... Dr. Mc Williams shows you what he is using and if you deceide that they are for you , that is great. I am setting up a clinical practice near London Ontario Canada and am so please that I have different tools to use in my practice thanks to the innovations of Dr. Mc Williams. Please contact me if you hace any questions concerning the course(s), clinicals or some of the equipment that can be used on a natural medicine clinic. Patricia M. Canada 2005

Doc please share my quotes with all your students!

Let the world know that God has a plan and share with them how God has blessed me through PMA, and
your teachings!! My entire family has noticed the change in me and they are so happy that I have found my way!!
My son states: "Mom you have changed so much sinceyour new journey. I am real proud of you!" My daughter
(who is completing pre-nursing classes with hopes of gaining admission to nursing school this fall) states: "What has
happened to you Mom?! Look how God has blessed and helped you! Now you are so elated and happy!!
I want that joy in my career too!!

God has a plan, doesn't He?!

Dr Carter and the PMA Staff,

I completed Dr Professor McWilliams in Nevis and all I can say WOW! I can not believe how much I learned in a such small classroom and the experience I received from a small clinic! I would have never believed that I would obtain such training from just looking at these two training facilities in Nevis!

I have completed undergraduate academic training in nursing, graduate training in both biology and health service administration. I also have completed a medical doctorate degree from a medical school that possesses membership with WHO. And through all of my advanced training I can honestly tell you that I never learned the depth of health sciences and provision of care to patients that I learned this past week. I am truly amazed with the experience I encountered in Nevis! Many people believe that advanced healthcare training has to be complex to be good.............oh how wrong they are!!

I am so thankful to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for the PMA, Dr Professor McWilliams and the
Pan American School of Natural Medicine. I have not only found my way; I am adhering and obeying the direction and plan God has for my life!

To God Be The Glory..........................Thank You Jesus!

PMA's Austin Training by Dr. McWilliams Testimonial

24 May 2011 11:06 AM | PMA Staff (Administrator)

Thank you so much for all of the materials you provided to us during the Austin training . I was just blown away by the amount of information that was presented. It's taking me several days to process all of it, and I will probably be processing even more over the next few weeks and months. I really enjoyed the class and look forward to taking more. The information was so helpful to me personally. I have been utilizing my own in-take form, and appreciate that you all have an on-line one that clients can complete before they come to a session.

Again, thank you so much!

• Just and incredible seminar, my friend. Everyone involved. Its like someone taking the blinders off and realizing the whole picture instead of a tunnel. Amazing!

Thanks

Howard

My studies with the PanAmerican School of Natural Medicine have catapulted my natural medicine education.  Being able to complete my studies online worked well for me by not having to sit in a class room for many hours each week to memorize what I was told I needed to learn.  Instead, I learned the most important aspects of clinical medicine with hands on training, giving me a huge advantage in my profession as a doctor of natural medicine and in the health of my patients.  This in depth program was superior to the school I previously attended, Clayton College of Natural Health, and afforded me to learn from the best in the field.  The clinical residency part of the training was a unique opportunity to learn first hand how to apply what I have learned to benefit patients in any setting, in the field with very little resources, or in a clinic.  Additionally, the continuing education the school offers is top-quality.  I do not know of any other school in the world that offers this much training and knowledge in natural medicine. • Hello Dr. C,

• Thank you for the invite to your special workshop!  I am looking forward to attending one of your seminars in the very near future, probably a Jade Training in Las Vegas. I'm just getting started now.  Thank you for the wonderful newsletter you sent today with the information on use of the dermaray with a towel.  I had a client with a concussion and knee injury and was able to give her a treatment using the new information right away!  She is feeling much better and the pain is greatly relieved.  I appreciate the educational updates and lectures so much.  Thank you for your generosity and assisting your students in this way. I LOVE this work! Susan F. USA

Rev. Margery Thomas, LPHC
It is an honor and of deep personal significance to write a foreword for Prof. Dr. Charles
McWilliam's second edition of his book, "Pastoral Medicine." For many years, the concept of a
pastoral natural healing ministry would interrupt my thoughts causing me to daydream into a
safe and far away distance, only to be jolted by a subtle fear and an inexplicable restraint. When
I read the first edition of this book, I found myself in deep awe, for in its pages are contained the
history, the precedents, the worldwide organization of people, resources, and the modalities to
accomplish exactly what I had envisioned. There is a sacred movement afoot and spiritually
sensitive people know it. If the church reclaims her place as a healing community, the world may
once again recognize and know her by her love.

" Modern Monastic, Clerical, and Pastoral Medicine" is a stunning history of medicine, without
the boring bits, and with a startling conclusion. My college text on the history of medicine had
dumped me flat on the doorstep of a downward spiraling, wildly expensive, drug based tragedy.
This book opens the door to reclamation. If we get to know our Maker's ways in grateful
humility, we will at once see the wisdom of the ages and know that truth is timeless. We will
open the door to gentle, scientific therapies that support what the body needs to heal itself. We
will acknowledge the wisdom of Scripture and the principles for health that are woven
throughout. We will see our Lord, Himself in the "least of these" and impart His healing
through the power of forgiveness, love and hope. We will hear our Master say, "Greater works
than I do, you will do." And if we believe it is true that the very first complete cell of every
human being cries out "I am here" in all its intelligent microscopic grandeur, we will not subject
anyone to the interference of the Creator's healing process.

As I caught the first glimpse of the small island of Nevis, rising to meet me in the air as if I had
magically entered my previewed online Google map, I knew I was on an important mission. My
experience proved it, for within the walls of that unpretentious clinic there exists an example of
benevolent medicine being practiced in simplicity and stunning effectiveness. The good doctor
does "no harm," but consistently models the quiet, assured application of God's natural remedies
along with therapies that assist the body in its innate wisdom to heal. Then he passionately
teaches others to do the same. Dr. Charles and Susan McWilliams are the living conclusion of
this book.

The vision for the future of natural medicine in monastic, clerical and pastoral ministry, is a
breath of fresh air and a sharply delineated contrast to atheistic, cafeteria style, drug based
medicine. I am finding that pastoral medicine (yes, it is now a reality due to that first edition of
this book) is a most natural fit and where the safest and greatest medicines of body, soul and
spirit can be joyfully applied as one beautiful meld. Ours is the opportunity for a true
reclamation. It is time for the Church to regain its role as a healing community and to never let
hold of it again. This book will open the door.
