Welcome to the Natural Medicine, Online, Academic Courses

Our teaching approach gives the practitioner a more than affordable alternative to new vistas in education by combined resident studies and distance learning.

These are not ordinary courses with ordinary content. Each course is designed to be a life changing ascent towards the goal of becoming a physician of natural medicine. Interested students can sign up for free, and view samples of content which is a learning in itself.

Medical and chiropractic students also find auditing our courses useful as a supplement to help them understand content and clinical application of difficult science courses. Something often lacking in traditional schooling is science courses taught with clinical relevance and life experience, aptitude and application. PanAm courses are designed for clinical application at the outset, thus providing students a rich understanding of content and application. Temet nosce — "Know yourself"

The PanAmerican School has four (4) primary teaching methods:

1. Web-based distance learning courses - Web-based courses are developed and delivered entirely on the Internet. Course syllabi and assignments are posted on the Web. Students communicate with faculty and classmates using e-mail and message forums. In some courses a CD-ROM supplements the Internet course material. Students need a Windows or Macintosh computer and an Internet connection. Examinations are completed online and students receive instant results on a pass-fail basis.

Our online courses can be taken in two formats:

a. Audit basis: For students with an avid interest in Natural Medicine, but to occupied for full time studies. Courses can be accessed by payment, but the self-evaluation exams musts be completed (they are open book), in which case upon successful completion of all Lessons a Certificate of Completion is emailed to you. For this participation, you can enroll online. The audit basis allows prospective students to engage, attempt completion on a course by course basis, and/or decide whether pursuing a degree is feasible. Medical students will find the exceptional materials invaluable and more than worth the fee. Unlike most schools, emphasis is not on memorization, but content, application, clinical relevance, and thus ease of retention.

b. Formal enrollment: in which case the student is offered clinical rotations and residencies for Diploma or Degree completion. For this the student must submit an application and have the necessary qualifications.

2. Seminars - Seminars are held throughout the year, at various locations world-wide. They provide a venue for instructor contact, meetting fellow students and colleagues, and gaining advanced knowledge.

3. Summer Camp - generally (annually), one month intensives are held on Nevis Island presenting classroom lectures, laboratories, and clinical observation. Venues and topics are posted on this web site or sent directly to students via email.

4. Clinical residencies - Reserved for formally enrolled and advanced students, clinical residencies provide observation and mentoring towards completion of diploma or degree requirements assessed by the Dean, as per student requirements. Clinical teaching facilities are available on Nevis Island, and locations in both North and South America. Some clinical residencies can be completed in one's local by a mentoring program (inquire for more details).

PanAm's natural medicine education, provides three levels of training:

  1. Basic medical sciences;
  2. Therapeutic principles and modalities;
  3. Clinical residencies.

The online approach allows a prospective student the chance to complete a large part of the basic sciences by distance, self-paced learning. In this way they are better prepared to continue on with their advanced trainings and clinical residencies (mandatory).

All courses listed below are completed online. Each course is completed within its own module and is presented as follows:

The Undergraduate Diploma Program in Natural Medicine (2,000 hours):

There are 1,000 clock hours of academic (online) study, which is coupled with 1,000 hours of seminars, workshops, and clinical observations. Practitioners of the healing arts, e.g. Massage therapists, Nutritionists, Acupuncturists, Nurses, etc., may apply for advanced status and life experience. Each candidate is appraised on an individual status.

The Graduate Doctorate Program in Natural Medicine (4,000 hours):

There are 1700 clock hours of academic (online) study, which is coupled with 1300 hours of seminars, workshops, and clinical observations. Practitioners of the healing arts, e.g. ND's, MD's, DO's, DC's, and others of advanced standing can apply for credits and waivers. Graduates of the Diploma Progam require only an additional 300 hours of clinical observations (2,000 hours total).

Why the two Programs?

The Diploma program allows one to make a career change with the candidate having only high school knowledge of biology and chemistry.

The Doctorate program is based on the same ladder of subjects as found in medical school but based on a different premise of content as route memorization of facts is not the desired goal, rather personal integration of the subject matter that can be applied immediately and clinically.
